›Consistent and covariant anomalies and descent equations

First we briefly review the consistent chiral anomaly and the descent equations of Stora and Zumino, introducing the pertinent algebraic tools (the homotopy operator, the Cartan homotopy formula, and the cohomology of BRS transformations modulo total derivatives). Then we introduce the covariant anomaly and the Bardeen-Zumino polynomial and discuss possibilities to carry over the concept of descent equations to the case of the covariant anomaly and covariant commutator anomaly.
Finally, we compare these results with explicit quantum field theoretic calculations.
