›SMOS Land Applications Workshop
ESA’s soil moisture and ocean salinity mission - SMOS – was successfully launched in November 2009. Since more than three years the first interferometric L-band radiometer in space has been providing high quality brightness temperature observations for a wide range of applications. Over land, soil moisture and vegetation opacity have been produced routinely.
Following regular meetings of the SMOS Validation & Retrieval Team and a very successful workshop in 2011 in Arles, two dedicated workshops for land and ocean applications will be held in 2013. This land workshop will focus on the latest developments for the Level 2 processor and the verification of the corresponding soil moisture and vegetation opacity products. In addition, the international science community will present and discuss novel data products and applications.
We welcome scientists and operational users interested in the generation and usage of SMOS data products.
