Explore your Outer Space at the MIDWEST Space Fest in beautiful downtown Traverse City, Michigan. Only 25 driving miles to "The Most Beautiful Place in America," (ABC-TV's Good Morning America viewers), Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
FRI - EMMY-nominated science documentary: "The City Dark: A Search for Night on a Planet that Never Sleeps" will be shown at the historic, restored State Theatre.
FRI - Launch Party with our presenters and keynote speaker Dr. Alex Filippenko, University of California-Berkeley researcher and professor and a National Academy of Sciences member.
SAT - Midday presentation by Dr. Filippenko: "Dark Energy and the Runaway Universe"
SAT - Free solar viewing and stargazing at our waterfront park, the Open Space, on West Grand Traverse Bay, Lake Michigan. Astronomers and storytellers will share their knowledge of our amazing northern Michigan skies.
SAT - Free indoor/outdoor exhibits from National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, Mich. State University Science Theater, Astronomy.FM, The Headlands International Dark Sky Park, Outdoor Lighting Forum, NASA and others.
