On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), It is my pleasure to welcome you all to Bangkok, Thailand for the 1st COSPAR Symposium. It is a privilege for the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) and the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) to have the opportunity to host the first of a new series of COSPAR Symposium themed “Planetary Systems of our Sun and other Stars, and the Future of Space Astronomy”, in Bangkok, Thailand. The COSPAR Symposium is a bi-annual event dedicated to space and astronomical research, aiming at strengthening activities in this area not only at a regional level but also across the globe, through multidisciplinary and training sessions. We strongly believe that the 1st COSPAR Symposium in Bangkok in the year 2013 will be beneficial to all participants with valuable perspectives and experiences on space and astronomical aspects.
