›Extraterrestrial Liberty - Dissent, Revoloution and Security in Space
A joint UK Centre for Astrobiology/British Interplanetary Society two-day meeting to explore political dissent, the problems of revolution and security in space and how these are to be balanced with freedom.
One of the most compelling discussions in political philosophy is the nature of individual, political and economic liberty. Following on from successful symposia at BIS in 2013 and 2014, which explored the two challenges, ‘What is Freedom Beyond the Earth?’ and ‘Human Governance Beyond the Earth’, respectively, Extraterrestrial Liberty III, the third of five conferences, looks at how political dissent will emerge in space, the implications of revolution and how systems of security in the extraterrestrial environment are to be balanced with maximising liberty.
