We live at a time where the discovery and characterisation of exoplanets seems routine. Here we will review the current state of the art and show the limitations of the data and the claims that are made from it. We will discuss the present population of habitable zone planets looking for the fabled earth 2. Finally, we will look ahead at new experiments and in particular the ESA M3 Mission PLATO which is designed to discover habitable zone terrestrial planets in the next decade...
