The talk will cover what we currently understand about the Near Earth Asteroid population, and then address the possibility that a major impact on the Earth could end human civilisation as we know it. The final section of the talk will look at some of the impact mitigation strategies that have been proposed, in the hope that the audience will leave in a state of mild optimism!
