›88th Congress of the Italian Geological Society

The 88th Congress of the Italian Geological Society will be held in Napoli from 7 to 9 September 2016.

The Congress will consist of three days of scientific sessions on the main topics of the Geosciences, plenary lectures by leading international scientists and special events (forum discussions and round tables) on topics of public interest.

The scientific programme aims at covering all the disciplines of Earth Science and to presents the results of cutting-edge research on a vast spectrum of topics in Geosciences. There will be six plenary lectures by leading international scientists and invited key-notes, talks and posters distributed into about 40 scientific sessions.

There will be one pre-congress 3-days field trip, providing an overview of the geology of the southern Apennines, and a wide choice of one-day post-congress field trips.
The scientific sessions and the special events will be held in the venues of the University of Naples Federico II, located in the Historic Centre of Napoli, the greatest Historic Centre of Europe, designated as World Heritage Site in 1995.
