The aerospace industry is under the continuous pressure due to an increasing demand for new services and technologies, higher integration level of electronics and reducing overall mass and volume of systems. New technologies and trends are calling for new approaches and methods to achieve compatibility between a huge variety of equipment. In the view of traditional verification approach from equipment to subsystem to system level, the extended use of commercial off the shelf components and the miniaturization into Cube Sats and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles present new challenges to the EMC society. In order to minimize test efforts, and to avoid fixing or redesigning already integrated systems, EMC engineers are seeking to improve the means of forecasting possible compatibility issues and validating subsystem designs. To achieve these goals a close collaboration of industry, academia and agencies is required.

The main goals of the Workshop are to

  • establish a forum opportunity for EMC researchers and engineers involved in aerospace
  • give a wide picture of the present state of EMC technology and trends
  • encourage awareness of, and foster discussion in future developments which will allow the EMC community to keep the pace of spacecraft and aircraft design advances and challenges

The 2022 ESA Workshop on Aerospace EMC will be held in Potsdam, 23 - 25 May 2022

We recognise that the strengths of a workshop like that is in providing a platform for lively discussions and exchange between the participants and that this can be fully achieved only with an event that is physically attended. So we will prepare the workshop as a real event, but a web streaming of the presentations will also be available. In the worst case that it is not possible to have physical attendance, the workshop will be turned fully virtual.
