This conference is to highlight 370 years of astronomy in Utrecht (1642-2012). It will

  • discuss the accomplishments of the Astronomical Institute Utrecht,
  • present an overview of the status, problems and prospects in the fields of research of the Institute.

Utrecht University has announced to close the Astronomical Institute after 370 years. At this conference we will review the contributions to astronomy done by the institute and discuss the continuation of its tradition elsewhere.
