Earlier this year, Maggie Lieu became one of the 100 candidates shortlisted for a one-way trip to Mars through the Mars One project.

As a scientist, her PhD research is focused on galaxy clusters, some of the largest structures in the Universe. Her work helps her to appreciate the sheer scale of outer space we have yet to explore.

In this talk Maggie will present the case for human exploration of Mars and will discuss some of the challenges that lie ahead for a successful human Mission to Mars.
