The workshop will be preceded by an online interaction, which is open to everyone. During the online interaction information on the Copernicus Marine Data Stream products will be presented, covering:

The geophysical variables provided including timeliness/temporal resolution and spatial resolution of the product.
The basic principles of the retrieval processes applied.
The accuracy of the products (Validation results).
How to access/receive the data.
Data format of the products.
Examples of applications.
Examples of software tools available to handle the data format.
The online interaction will be held from 31 October–11 November 2016 and should be about 10 hours in total. We anticipate participants will focus on their area of scientific interest. The material will remain available online.

The subsequent face-to-face workshop in Oostende will focus on an expert level exchange about the potential applications of the CMDS products and the associated needs to which EUMETSAT's training activities should be tailored.

The discussions will take place in product-related splinter groups. Each group will be joined by CMDS product experts.
