AMSAT Nepal in collaboration with ORION Space is organizing Online Space Workshop 2020 at May 2-3, 2020. The presenters will present for 45 minutes and there is Q/A session for 15 minutes. It is a 2 day program with 8 presentations.

The event will be live at Youtube and the updates can be viewed via twitter of Amsat-Nepal and ORION Space.

About the Speakers

Abhas Maskey

Abhas Maskey is a PhD scholar at Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan and is the Project Manager for BIRDS-3 Satellite Project that built the first satellite for Sri Lanka (Raavana-1) and Nepal (NepaliSat-1). Abhas’ interest is on camera designs and is currently researches on machine learning for CubeSat imaging systems.

Hari Ram Shrestha

Obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from College of Information and Technology (CITE), Purbanchal University. He is also a permanent staff of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) since 2010. Now he is doing his Master’s degree in Space Engineering Course under the Cho lab at the Department of Applied Science Advancement Integrated System Engineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology (KyuTech) Japan. Moreover,He is also team member of BIRDS-3 and BIRDS-4 CubeSat Projects as well as he is a one of the member of Nepal’s first satellite NepaliSat-1 (Nanosatellite) from the Nepal which was launched in 17th April 2019 from USA. whereas BIRDS-4 CubeSat Project has under the environmental test phase.

Félix Páez

Félix Páez is the current President of AMSAT Spain (AMSAT EA) a non-profit ham radio association dedicated to the study, promotion and development of space satellites for the Amateur Radio Service, as well as the educational, scientific and experimental work associated with it.

Computer engineer by the Spanish Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and radio amateur with callsign EA4GQS, has set up, with the help of some Universities and the support of some companies, 3 projects of pocketqube satellites: GENESIS, EASAT-2 and Hades, all to be launched this year.

Dr. Rajendra Adhikari

Rajendra Adhikari born in Chitwan, Nepal received his PhD degree in Physics from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville USA in 2013 and worked as postdoctoral fellow at Arkansas State University, Jonesboro USA. He joined Kathmandu University in 2015 and is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics. He is also coordinating the operations and management of supercomputer there. His research interests include computational Physics, and propagation of radiowaves in space. Dr. Adhikari is also the President of AMSAT-Nepal.

Julian Fernandez

Julian Fernandez is a 17 year old Student and is the current Co-Founder and CEO of Fossa Systems, an association dedicated to the development of picosatellite technologies and more specifically, PocketQubes. Julian started the development of the first Spanish pocketqube spacecraft, FOSSASAT-1, in mid-2018. This open-source 1P satellite is experimenting with new spread spectrum LoRa technology for the internet of things and is a demonstrator for the new miniaturized architecture. It launched into orbit on the 10th Electron mission and has been operating for around 2 months. Fossa systems will soon be launching two more demonstrator satellites to test ADCS systems, an earth observation payload, new IoT repeater capabilities and pulsed plasma propulsion.
