The organization of AOSWA (Asia Oceania Space Weather Alliance) was established in 2010 for a regional exchange of information of space weather for operation and research in Asia and Oceania regions. Until now, 35 associates from 15 countries have joined AOSWA. The first AOSWA workshop was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2012, to promote research works, operational collaboration, and data exchange, for the development of space weather activities in Asia and Oceania regions. Since then, the AOSWA workshop had been organized annually or biennially in different countries. The past host countries of the AOSWA workshop were China, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia.

The last fifth AOSWA workshop with a theme entitled “To meet, to connect and to foster for better living in space” was held in 2018 in Bandung, Indonesia where more than 100 participants attended.

In the year 2020, the sixth AOSWA workshop will be hosted in Selangor, Malaysia, by the Space Science Centre, Institute of Climate Change, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
