Five years ago the US Congress passed a law which recognizes ownership rights of American citizens over space resources which they have extracted from celestial bodies. This was the first law of its kind to enter into force, it has been followed by others, international debate and not inconsiderable controversy.

In this webinar, being held on the anniversary of the bill being presented to President Obama, leading space resources legal expert Dr Thomas Cheney will, after a presentation on our report, discuss the developments of the past five years with Professor Christopher Newman and Ms Lauren Napier. There will also be a Q&A session for attendees.

The Centre for a Spacefaring Civilization aims to be a credible and objective source of leadership and information on space law and policy topics. We take a global, long term, and multidisciplinary approach to these issues and seek to forge relations based on mutual respect, trust, and transparency.
